Hello and welcome to The Best Marine Equipment Reviews And Liveaboard Boating site!
I'm CaptainK and I have been sailing for many years. I am the Editor of this site and I personally review all of the products that we list. I love writing about Boats, Liveaboard tips and tricks, Anchor Windlasses and marine equipment as well as anything to do with living onboard a boat. You can read my full biography here.
This reviews site grew from the frustration of trying to understand how to compare and buy the best marine equipment for living aboard boats because there is so little information out there.
Boating and living aboard boats has consistently grown in popularity over the years and that is no surprise. People love achieving and maintaining a great quality of life and anyone can create their own live aboard life for a surprisingly low cost.
A Liveaboard Boat Is A Great Investment.
Because the best marine equipment, boats and outboard motors last for so long, they're a great investment. Many thousands of hours of boating can be enjoyed with just one set of marine equipment. The initial purchase may seem expensive, but it can be sailed around, re-sold as a used item or passed down through the generations.
This makes the initial investment seem rather small in the end. Imagine any other pastime where an initial layout of say, $10,000 becomes a home that lasts for 20 years or more! That is great value.
The idea to actually review the best marine equipment for liveaboards came about because so many people have asked my advice on this subject. Over the years I have advised many a potential liveaboard on the best buy for their particular circumstances. They really are all different!
Some kit is for specialised boating while others are for more general sailing or living. Other cheaper marine equipment does not stand the test of time, but we don't cover those pieces here. Each item of liveaboard marine equipment varies so this make choosing the right one rather a difficult job.
Things to take into account when choosing marine equipment like an anchor windlass is the size of the boat, the durability of the equipment, the frequency at which you will use it and the storage space available. In fact, this is not a comprehensive list. Again a reason why I created a specific reviews site to cater for all sorts of people and all sorts of equipment.
The overall question I hope to answer is 'which marine equipment is best for me?'.
I attempt to help you choose and buy while navigating through all of the confusing options that the beginner or first-time buyer faces. I decided that reviewing the best gear in an easy-to-read way and comparing them across all the best Brands in the reviews offered more to the reader than just picking out a few of the best-selling products.
It's because I have been into sailing and the liveaboard life for so long that I know the in's and out's of most of the popular Brands and what the different models have to offer.
I can confidently recommend certain outboard motors, anchor windlasses and such for certain environments and uses. Each person and purpose is different in this regard so it's worth paying attention to the details!
So if you know of a neglected boat that needs repairing, or someone that does not know how to compare replacement marine equipment - please do send them to this site!
I will not show you long lists of high end marine equipment just because it's expensive
Instead I will offer my insight and analysis of the best marine equipment for liveaboards so that you can make your own mind up by using this impartial and hopefully intelligent source of all the best products on the market.
Personal experience and honest reviews, analysing the features of the products, keeping up to date with the trends in the market and offering advice is what I aim to do well.
Researching the market for discounted marine equipment so that you don't have to is my goal and I hope that you enjoy using the My Liveaboard HQ Reviews Site.
